I couldn’t believe how much he had changed from the previous year.  This next one was him just last year!!

…and now!  Can you believe that?!?  Oh how I wish they wouldn’t grow up so darn fast!

We met in Omaha at the old Burlington building downtown for their session. I had never shot there before, but let me just say, it’s a photographer’s H-E-A-V-E-N!!  (Evident by the several other photographers that were there shooting as well.)  So many rich colors, great textures…and the light was divine.  I wish I could pick it up and transport the whole location to Lincoln.  I just love the colors in their dresses with the urban backdrop….so yummy!

Miss Busybody was on the go!  The only way to keep her still was to get her up off the ground or in something…and even then she was quick to escape!  There were so many more interesting things to look at than a lady with a big black box in front of her face. :)

This is Ashley…she is the middle of 3 sisters (well, for now, mom is due with sibling #4 around Christmas!)…

Her personality encompasses everything they say about middle children…:)

This is Lauren…she captured my heart a long time ago.

This was Lauren’s response to me asking, “Can you show me your best serious face?”  I did not pose her, she did it all on her own…could you ask for more??  A favorite from this session for sure!

Prior to this session, we’ve always done their sessions separate.  This time I suggested we combine them into one session and do some sibling shots at the end.  I made the tent just for their session, but by the time we brought it out they were getting to the point of being done (and the light was fading quickly)…but I seriously love this set of images.  It’s exactly what I had envisioned…just them…loving…laughing…being sisters.  The last one is one of my favorite images EVER, I just love it!!

Hello, hello….sorry for the blog drought these past couple weeks!  We are home from our 2 week vacation and getting settled into our regular routine again…or trying to anyway.  Two weeks was just the perfect amount of time off…plenty of time to completely relax and enjoy ourselves, but any longer and 5 people living out of suitcases would make my head spin.  We spent our full 2 weeks in Minnesota and I’m convinced that any cabin on a Minnesota lake is nothing short of heaven.  A good time was had by all!

Shortly before vacation I opened fall sessions dates, and they are booking FAST!  Sessions were first released to previous clients, but are now open to anyone who would like to book.  Once again, it’s going to be a very busy fall.  Please, please….I beg you….do not wait until the last minute to inquire about a session.  Most weekend dates have been filled, but there still are some times available for the weekday evening.  If you’re considering a session or have a newborn due to arrive this fall, contact me now to get on the schedule.

I also photographed this sweet little lady and her family before I left for vacation.  They make my job incredibly easy, and I have many faves from this session.

What’s a blog carousel you ask? Let me explain. How it works is this…you are given a “theme”, everyone in the blog carousel posts an image of their interpretation of that theme, and then links to the next person so readers are able to click through the carousel and read all the posts.  A group of pro photographers that I’m friends with have already been doing this for the past few months, and I decided to hop on board as well.  :) Themes from the previous month were reflection, monochrome, and framed, and this month’s theme is LAUGHTER.  Enjoy!

When I heard the theme was going to be laughter, one image immediately came to mind.  It’s actually an image I took 2 years ago of my two oldest girls.  I had just gotten a new lens and bribed them into going out for a quick session with me so I could play with my new lens.  I had absolutely no other expectations except to get comfortable using the lens, but the moment I snapped this image, I knew it would be an instant favorite!   To me it speaks so much about the very essence of sisterhood.  While they may have their disagreements…they cry, they laugh, most importantly, they love…my girls are the best of friends, and I hope they will never forget that.  I love everything about this image…the flyaway hairs, wrinkled noses, missing teeth, and belly laughs.  I don’t even care that my younger daughter is slightly out of focus.  When I see this image, I can hear my girls laughing.  And maybe most importantly, it reminds me that some of the best photos are not ones where everyone is smiling perfectly at the camera, but rather where the subjects are showing emotion, and upon seeing them immediately take you back to the place and time the image was created.

My girls have a 24×36 canvas of this image in their room, and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
