These little ladies define miracle in every sense of the word.  They arrived a bit ahead of schedule, around 30 weeks if I remember correctly, with both just over 3 lbs. at birth.  When I got the inquiry about photographing them in the NICU I was so excited, as they are the smallest little ones I’ve photographed in the NICU to date.  It’s through another miracle that both of them are doing just marvelously and should be heading home in no time!

Last week I photographed these 2 beauties through my involvement with the Pictures of Hope Foundation. They arrived a bit ahead of schedule, but are doing just marvelously…word on the street is they may be home already! So glad to hear that.

As much as I wish it were true, life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. And as much as I’d like to think “everything happens for a reason”, sometimes I’m just not able to wrap my brain around why these things always seem to happen to the nicest people….or have to happen at all. When I was on my way out, I asked if they would allow me permission to share their story here on the blog….they agreed, because this is real life.

And to Talon & Owen’s family…I THANK YOU, for sharing your story. I’ve been thinking about you guys every single day. Sending many, many hugs and prayers to you all.

After my daughter spent time in the NICU, I knew I wanted to do something to give back….in honor of her, and in honor of the families that have to endure so much heartache, because I’ve experienced it myself, and know it isn’t easy.

I am honored to participate in the American Child Photographer Charity Guild (ACPCG). The ACPCG is a group of many photographers from around the nation that have networked together to provide complimentary sessions to babies in the NICU and families of children with terminal illnesses. The ACPCG is a non-profit, volunteer based organization.

Last week I had the opportunity to meet Miss Briley. Briley arrived just under 34 weeks gestation, is doing amazingly well, and is just as perfect as could be. :) I had first met this family when I photographed their first daughter (who also spent some time in the NICU))….I was honored to be able to share in this time in their lives again, and to be able to provide images that I know are so special to them.

Before I left for my convention, I had the pleasure of photographing Miss Delilah before she headed home from the NICU! Deliah was born several weeks early and weighed a little over 3 pounds at birth. She is now doing fabulous and is home with both parents, and big sis who had not been able to see her since birth.
