Giving back feels good.

Walking through the halls of the hospital, back into the NICU always brings back uneasy feelings for me. My youngest daughter spent nearly a month there, 28 days to be exact. It’s a walk I wouldn’t wish on any parent….down the long hall forcing smiles at passersby, past the new parents carrying their fresh bundles in their infant seats ready to go home, up the elevator in uncomfortable silence, then past the birthing unit, and back down another long hall to the NICU….unsettling, yet strangely familiar. It’s been nearly 4 years, but the feelings come back like it was yesterday.

After my daughter spent time in the NICU, I knew I wanted to do something to give back….in honor of her, and in honor of the families that have to endure so much heartache, because I’ve experienced it myself, and know it isn’t easy.

I am honored to participate in the American Child Photographer Charity Guild (ACPCG). The ACPCG is a group of many photographers from around the nation that have networked together to provide complimentary sessions to babies in the NICU and families of children with terminal illnesses. The ACPCG is a non-profit, volunteer based organization.

Last week I had the opportunity to meet Miss Briley. Briley arrived just under 34 weeks gestation, is doing amazingly well, and is just as perfect as could be. :) I had first met this family when I photographed their first daughter (who also spent some time in the NICU))….I was honored to be able to share in this time in their lives again, and to be able to provide images that I know are so special to them.

Without further ado…..the perfectly darling Briley.

Melissa M - She is soooo precious and beautiful. What a lucky family. :)

Angie K - As a former NICU mom myself, this post touched my heart. Gorgeous photos. Wonderful gift.

Jamie - I just wanted to say you are a truly wonderful person. You’re so talented and kind and always ‘giving’ something to someone. I can only aspire to be like you someday. I was in tears over your post here and I’m sure the family is just thrilled with the images. What a little miracle she is. Lovely work as always. Thank you for being you!

Jamie - Sarah- what a beautiful thing to do. I have had 2 boys in NICU and I know the pain all to well of leaving my sick baby while they sent me home and just reading your message brings tears to my eyes. That walk to NICU is something you NEVER forget. I am just starting out but I would LOVE to be involved in such a special charity.

Lisa - Truly inspiring work, Sarah. What a treasure this little peanut is.

corey civetta - These are absolutely precious! Gorgeous captures, Sarah and I am so happy Miss Briley is doing well!
