The beauty of motherhood

It isn’t often that I get the chance to do pregnancy portraits so when I do, I really enjoy the opportunity. To me, pregnancy is such a gorgeous, radiant time…it most definitely deserves to be captured. Just the fact that a new life is about to begin…you know before I had my first daughter I just couldn’t even comprehend what was about to happen, then she was here and nothing has been the same. Add 2 more to the mix and here we are…I always worried about having enough love to go around, it’s always so amazing how those things work out. Anyway, I was lucky to photograph this mom to be at 38 weeks. Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous!! The round little belly…just perfect, and not a stretch mark to be seen. ;)

I just happen to know this special lady is going to become a mother tomorrow! I can barely stand it. Teresa & Jeff, if you’re reading….Good Luck to you both, can’t wait to meet your little man.

Here are some of my favorites:

Well okay…I guess that was a lot of favorites!! You know what this means….stay tuned for another newborn post soon! :)

a different kind of photograph

I came across this the other day and felt compelled to share it here! I’ll admit, it’s *very* sad (so BE SURE to have tissues handy), but it is reality for some people…

Photographer Renee C. Byer of the Sacramento Bee was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for her image portrayal of Derek Madsen, and his family, as he struggles with, and eventually loses his battle with a rare form of childhood cancer. The images are raw, real, and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful…a different kind of beautiful. I just can’t imagine what these photos must mean to this family…

You can watch videos of how the story/documentary came to light HERE
