The simple moments

I love photographing 3 year olds, they’re challenging yet sweet, in fact, they are probably my favorite age. Their expressions, their mannerisms, I’m intrigued by everything about them. Meet Anna and her little brother Luke! This is the second time I photographed Anna, and she’s one of the most serious little buggers I’ve had yet. Good thing she has such a beautiful serious look!:)Oh, and those eyes!!! Both of these kiddos have AMAZING eyes, the kind of eyes a photographer longs for! You may have heard talk about catchlights; the reflection of light seen in the eyes. Well, they might mean nothing to you, but photographers strive for awesome catchlights! And I finally got some…

My favorites from their session…

The catchlights…(click the image to view larger) In the full size version, I can actually see myself in the reflection of her eyes, jeans, black tanktop, and all!

And this is why I do what I do…the simple moments…I just love these last three!

Love the pose, love the way her foot is turned inward, love that she’s holding her favorite bear by the foot, looking off to the side contemplating who knows what…

Such a typical 3 year old look, as if she’s almost saying, “I dare you to take my picture.”

Just hanging out on the chair flapping my legs, avoiding the camera at all costs…

Little did she know that these moments capture more about her than she thinks. These are the things her parents will always remember about her.

Thanks R family, for letting me into your lives for just a few hours!:)
